No idea of what to do for March Break? Sign up for Code Week!

This free, week-long event in the style of a coding bootcamp is designed for high school, CÉGEP and undergraduate students. Every day from February 28th to March 7th, 2021, you will be presented with a workshop as well as a mini-challenge to develop your coding skills! You will accumulate points by submitting responses to the challenges and win prizes at the end of the week. Both beginners and advanced programmers are welcome to participate; there is something for everyone!

Sunday —

Opening Ceremony

This is the mandatory opening ceremony. We will provide you with all the information to make the most of Code Week! We’ll explain things like submissions, workshops and prizes!

 

Monday —

Web Development

On this first day of Code Week, you will be delving into web development and building your own portfolio website describing your coding experiences, hobbies, education, etc… Or, if you want to learn even more, try building a simulation or a game with HTML Canvas!

 

Tuesday —

Cryptography

Cryptography is a method of protecting information and communication, through the use of codes, so that only those for whom the information is intended can read and process it. On Tuesday, you will be learning how to encode and decode your own ciphers.

 

Wednesday —

Game Development

On this day, you will be making one of three games: Tic Tac Toe, Snake or Hangman. Do not worry if you’ve never made a game before! Our game development workshop will fully prepare you!

 

Thursday —

ASCII Image Art

ASCII art is a graphic design technique that uses computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the characters of the keyboard. During this day, you will learn to create your very own ASCII Image art!

 

Friday —

Crossword Solver

On this last day of Code Week, you will be building a crossword solver that reads text from a file and searches it for specific words! This seems easy but it is harder than you would think!

 

Sunday —

2:30pm-3:00pm EST

Closing Ceremony

At the closing ceremony, we’ll be announcing the winners of Code Week and giving away prizes!
