What is KuriusHacks?

KuriusHacks is a 48h virtual hackathon open to high school, CÉGEP, and undergraduate students to provide YOU the opportunity to make a tangible impact in your community by solving ACTUAL problems faced by nonprofits through code!

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a coding marathon, usually within the span of 24h or 48h, where you work with other hackers to build innovative solutions to real-world problems given by other non-profit organizations! At the end, your team will demo your solution through a video. Our judging panel will determine the winners and you can win prizes!

What is the theme of the hackathon?

Our hackathon is focused on the impact we can have on our community. The specific theme will be announced during the hackathon.

What kinds of workshops and activities will there be?

In the past, we have hosted workshops on topics such as Intro to Web development, Intro to UI/UX design, as well as intermediate topics such as Intro to Machine Learning. We will also be hosting a game night to allow you to take a break from coding and meet new people while having fun!

Who can attend?

This event is open to all high school, CÉGEP, and undergraduate students, regardless of location or experience!

How much does it cost to attend?

Nothing! The event is completely free for all registered participants!

Do I need to know programming to participate?

No, not at all. Hackathons are the best place to bring together diverse skill sets to solve a common goal. People from all backgrounds including designing, marketing, analysis and entrepreneurship join forces together to visualize a product. We highly encourage you to meet and collaborate with other participants to pitch your idea. Plus, we have beginner workshops to teach you how to code!

Where is KuriusHacks happening and how long is it for?

Keeping your safety and comfort in mind, KuriusHacks will be conducted virtually in our Discord server to freely facilitate innovation. This hackathon will last around 48 hours.

How many people can there be in a team?

Your team can have up of to 4 people.

Is this a team event? What if I do not have a team?

Yes, it is a team event but if going solo is your style, we are all for it. You can also meet new people and find yourself a team through our Discord server before the hacking begins!
